Coming home to a break-in is upsetting, and the first job is making the house safe again. Our burglary repair service does exactly that: damaged locks replaced, doors secured, and weak points strengthened so you can sleep properly tonight.
We work around the clock, because break-ins do not keep office hours. Call and we will talk you through the immediate steps before we arrive.

What should I do first after a break-in?
Call the police first and get a crime reference number — your insurer will need it. Do not touch anything you do not have to, and do not clean up until the police have been, in case they need to look at the scene.
Then call us — our emergency locksmith is open 24 hours. We will ask what has been damaged — a forced front door, a smashed back door, a broken window lock — and come with the parts to secure it. You will get a clear quote before any work starts — see how our quotes work.
Making the property safe
The first job is always security: a new lock on the forced door, a boarded window, a repaired frame. If the door itself is split or the frame is damaged, we can fit temporary boarding and return for a proper repair.
We replace damaged cylinders and mortice locks with stronger ones, and we can upgrade to British Standard locks or anti-snap cylinders while we are there, so the same weakness is not left in place.
What does my insurer need after a burglary?
Most insurers want the crime reference number, a list of what was taken or damaged, and evidence that the property was secured afterwards. Keep the receipts for any locks or boarding we fit, and photograph the damage before it is repaired.
If your policy asks for locks of a particular standard, tell us when you call. We can fit BS3621 locks and TS007-rated cylinders, which are the standards insurers most often specify.
How do I stop it happening again?
Burglars usually enter through the weakest point: a back door with a basic cylinder, a window left on the latch, a patio door with a worn lock. After securing the damage, we walk the property with you and point out the weak points worth strengthening. If the break-in has left you shaken, Victim Support offers free, confidential help for victims of crime.
Common upgrades are anti-snap cylinders on front and back doors, a stronger mortice lock on a timber door, and window locks on ground-floor windows. Each one raises the effort a burglar needs, and most move on to an easier target.
Frequently asked questions
Can you come out the same night after a break-in?
Yes. We are open 24 hours a day, and burglary repairs are treated as urgent. Call or WhatsApp 07984 547185 and we will come and secure the property, even in the middle of the night. A home that cannot be locked is not safe to leave.
Do you board up broken doors and windows?
Yes. If a door or window cannot be locked after a break-in, we fit temporary boarding to secure it, then return for a proper repair or replacement lock. Boarding is a stopgap, not a solution, and we always agree the follow-up work with you.
Will my insurer pay for the lock repairs?
Many home insurance policies cover locks damaged in a break-in, but the terms vary. Keep the crime reference number, photograph the damage, and keep our receipts. We can give you a written description of the work done, which insurers usually ask for.
Should I upgrade my locks after a burglary?
It is worth considering. Burglars often return to a property they know, so leaving the same weak lock in place is a risk. Anti-snap cylinders and British Standard mortice locks are the usual upgrades, and we can fit them during the same visit as the repair.
What if the door frame is damaged as well as the lock?
A split frame can usually be repaired or reinforced without replacing the whole door. We assess the frame on arrival and tell you honestly what can be saved. If the door itself is beyond repair, we secure it with boarding and explain the replacement options.
